Here is my method of centering and explaining centering on the wheel. There are many correct ways to do this and this is a fairly rushed demo but it should convey a basic way to center clay.

Wheel Throwing Alternate Assignment
You should have spent a total of five hours on the wheel throughout this quarter. If you have not and would like an alternate assignment here are the requirements:

Sculpture Requirements:
- Recreate the sculpture you have researched:
- Create it fully 3D - do not ignore the back side or simply make it flat.
- Score and slip pieces together.
- Include texture where appropriate.
- Burnish areas when necessary.
- Piece must be over 8 inches tall.
- Make sure large areas are hollow.
- Do not include long thin parts.
- No Architecture
- Paint the sculpture with acrylic paints
- Add or change parts of the sculpture that will make your audience know that it is from the 21st century.
